Labor reforms

Labor reforms

India’s demographic dividend can quickly turn into a demographic disaster if people do not have the necessary skills or access to jobs. People in the rural countryside for example, need access to industrial jobs for the millions of new workers entering the sector. India has some advantages here - the combination of growth, urbanization, and India’s growing competitiveness in global markets, coupled with the aging of workers in China, will give a boost to industrial jobs in India. However, the lack of reforms poses a serious challenge to job creation across our industries, and has also created a massive, underpaid army of contract and unorganised workers.
