Electronification of the Indian economy has played a huge role in the country’s transformation and its prospects for growth. But electronification took some time to catch on in India – thanks to how we perceived computers as a threat to labor – but with the rise of outsourcing, the power of electronification has captured the Indian imagination. Various technology efforts - such as the transformation of our stock markets from a paper-based, corrupt system into one of the most advanced in the world, the introduction of electronic voting machines and the move to voter identification, the electronification of India’s banking system, and the crucial telecom revolution and the rise of the cell phone - have had varying impacts on the common man, and are building up a sea change in the way Indians perceive technology, as well as in the ways it can touch their lives.
